KONGSBERG Safety Management and Control System (K‐Safe SMCS) is part of the K‐Safe product family of computerized systems that form part of risk reducing facilities on the ship/installation. The K‐SAFE SMCS system gathers all safety‐relevant information into a common system, and is designed and developed specifically for safe monitoring and handling of unacceptable hazardous situations. This involves a balance of automatic and manual actions, provided with a carefully designed interaction principle that ensures the operators remain in control.

The main operator surface is intuitive and provides the complete status of the vessel through dynamic objects on the general arrangement drawings, including possibility for operation and access to alarm list. In addition, the operator interface includes categorized views of the abnormal situations that are currently present and provides adaptive information to give the operator the opportunity to remain calm, efficient and precise by its unique and intuitive design.
