With the new contract and the opening of modern production facilities in Horten Industripark, Norautron strengthens its position as a key contributor within Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace’s supplier network – and as a driver of growth in both industry and society. The agreement is expected to lead to the creation of 30 new jobs at Norautron.
This contract builds on an established collaboration and enables increased production capacity and predictable deliveries in a sector facing growing demand.
“We are grateful to be part of this journey alongside Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. It is a partnership that allows us to contribute with our expertise, grow together, and support a sector that demands both competence and precision – qualities we are proud to deliver,” says Kenneth Dåstøl. EVP Sales & Marketing at Norautron.
The contract signing and the opening of Norautron’s new facilities were marked by broad participation from both industry and political spheres. Attendees included representatives from Norautron and KONGSBERG, Mayor Christina Bratli, and Ine Eriksen Søreide, Chair of the Norwegian Parliament’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence.
In her address, Søreide emphasised the value of close, strategic cooperation – both between the public and private sectors, and between military and civilian actors. She highlighted that defence readiness is not developed in isolation but through long-term collaboration between industry, government, and society.

Nationwide value creation
The defence industry creates significant value and employment across the country. According to the Norwegian Defence and Security Industries Association (FSi), the sector employs over 17,000 people and generates approximately NOK 20 billion in annual value.
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace plays a key role in this value creation. We collaborate with more than 2,000 Norwegian subcontractors, generating significant local ripple effects. In 2024, we awarded three times more contracts to Norwegian subcontractors than we received from Norwegian clients.
Founded in 1989, Norautron today employs more than 1,000 people across five countries.
The collaboration with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace began in 2014, though ties with KONGSBERG date back further. The new contract builds on a trusted relationship based on shared quality standards and a mutual commitment to advancing industrial capability for defence – nationally and internationally.
