Norspace wins first commercial contract to supply TTC Equipment

Horten, Norway 26 January 2009 - Norspace has won its first order to supply TTC (Telemetry Tracking Command) flight hardware to a commercial satellite program.

The contract calls for delivery of C-band Beacon transmitters to be used on board a satellite under construction by Space Systems/Loral for a large satellite operator.

“We are excited about this contract” says Norspace CEO Sverre Bisgaard. “It signifies a breakthrough for our TTC product line”. Norspace undertook development of a range of TTC products in mid 2006 based on a license contract with an established European supplier of such products. The TTC products comprise Telecommand Receiver, Telemetry Transmitter and Beacon Transmitter for commercial satellites and S-band transponders for the institutional market. “We expect our TTC products to account for at least one third of our sales within the next five years,” says Bisgaard. “As a newcomer, we are able to penetrate this mission critical product segment for three reasons. First, our license contract enables us to build products which already have flight heritage. Second, we have a good delivery reliability record with our key customers. Third, customers are welcoming more competition for these products”, concludes Sverre Bisgaard.
