Systems Architect

We are looking for a passionate Systems Architect to join our dynamic team of highly skilled engineers. You will play a key role in shaping the future technology landscape of our business, specifically through our Vessel Infrastructure of the Future program—one of Kongsberg Maritime’s most strategic initiatives aimed at delivering scalable, secure, and future ready maritime digital infrastructure

As a Systems Architect, you will help shape KM’s next generation maritime digital platform — one of the company’s most ambitious transformation programs. Your work will directly influence how future fleets operate, integrate, and scale.

What you will be doing
• Translate operational needs into architectural concepts—supporting Fleet Agility, Unified User Experience, Safety, and Platform Standardization.
• Define and create the architecture for future Platform solutions at Kongsberg Maritime.
• Establish a technical vision together with the Systems Engineering team, providing a future ready platform for all our solutions. This involves you in keeping up with the current technological trends and innovations.
• Contributing to the development of the Systems Engineering discipline by providing thought leadership to the team around innovative approaches, workflows, and technologies.
• Responsible for the Systems Engineering Process fulfillment within the project and product you work with.
• Collaborate with teams of architects, developers, product owners and managers, while sharing and utilizing knowledge in cross-functional and globally distributed multi-discipline departments and projects.

We think you should have
• You have a Bachelor- or Master’s degree in computer science and a strong interest in Systems Engineering
• Several years of experience in various technological domains, including concept development, systems architecture, system integration, and Systems Engineering in platform development
• Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (Like SysML, UML and/ or frameworks like UAF)
• Experience working with large scale platform architectures, preferably involving multi pillar operational models, edge technology or distributed systems
• Strong architectural competence within areas such as cybersecurity, cloud architecture, vessel–shore networking, edge computing, containerization technologies and/or DevOps/Platform engineering.
• Ability to assess architecture readiness and maturity for a product or platform before implementation and identify gaps and risks early.
• Good Communications skills
