Product Compliance Officer

Join the Uncrewed Platforms division in Kongsberg Discovery as a Product Compliance Officer. Kongsberg Discovery is a global marine technology company providing innovative and reliable solutions. In the Uncrewed Platforms division, we design, manufacture, and sell autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) that can explore the oceans from the surface and down to 6000 meters below depth. Uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) are also part of our product portfolio, as well as support systems and engineering projects. Our systems can operate alone for days and weeks at a time, collecting data about the seafloor and the water.  

What you will be working with

As a Product Compliance Officer, you will be a part of our product group, and you will ensure our organisation stays current with all relevant legal, regulatory, safety, and security standards. This includes overseeing compliance for our range of uncrewed sub-surface (AUVs) and surface vehicles (USVs), along with their supporting infrastructure and systems. Your responsibilities involve staying updated on relevant legislation and industry regulations, interpreting these requirements, and implementing compliance strategies across the entire product portfolio. You will collaborate with various teams to ensure that compliance is considered throughout the full product life cycle—from initial requirement gathering and design, through to production, deployment, and end-of-life management. Additionally, you will act as the primary point of contact between the company and regulatory authorities, ensuring timely communication and resolution of compliance issues. 

Key responsibilities  

  • Monitor and interpret relevant legal, regulatory, safety, and security for AUV and USV systems  

  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and product teams to implement compliance strategies. 

  • Act as a liaison between the company and regulatory bodies, facilitating clear understanding and adherence to regulations. 

  • Data Analysis & Reporting, gather, analyze, and interpret data to prepare reports and inform decision-making. 

  • Monitor technological changes and industry trends that may affect compliance requirements, updating internal policies as needed. 

  • Assist with product management and life cycle support to ensure ongoing compliance of products in the field. 

What we think you should have   

  • Bachelors in relevant technical field of the industry, such as Degree Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Business or Business Management 

  • At least three years of experience in a related role 

  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with various internal departments, external partners, and clients is key to fostering a productive working environment. 

  • Experience collaborating with design, engineering, and product teams to implement compliance strategies 

  • Demonstrated ability to monitor technological changes and industry trends affecting compliance requirements, and update internal policies accordingly 

  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond positively to changes in a dynamic environment
