Director Strategy & Business Development – Thruster Systems Business Unit

This role is about driving business growth by leading strategic initiatives and assuring execution. You’ll work closely with our sales force, customers, and partners to grow our business in line with market needs—both current and future. You’ll be hands-on, while also making sure the organization stays focused and well-resourced for success. This role plays a pivotal part in identifying and capitalizing on growth opportunities, aligning cross-functional efforts, and ensuring seamless execution of strategic plans. You will be covering our Propulsion solutions for all key market segments (Offshore, Tug, Cruise, Yacht, Naval, LNG etc.) globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Growth Projects and Programs, identify and manage key initiatives that drive our growth plans and customer value creating in our core segments.
  • Support product strategy and product line managers, helping analyse important market segments and shape our product roadmaps
  • Collaborate across teams, work with sales, customers, and partners to shape business plans that meet market demands.
  • Ensure strong execution and make sure we deliver on our goals by aligning teams and keeping priorities clear.
  • Be actively involved and contribute directly to projects while guiding others to stay focused on what matters most.
  • Develop and apply growth strategies create smart, practical plans to increase market shares and enter new segments.
  • Identify, evaluate and be a key in driving M&A activities in our domain both on adjacent and current landscape.
  • Run strategic programs and lead efforts that improve how we work and strengthen our position in the market.

Key Competences

  • Experience in business development, management consulting, private equity and commercial strategy roles
  • Strong planning and execution skills
  • Great communication and teamwork abilities
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving and changing environments
  • Strong domain knowledge from Marine and Propulsion markets.

Mandate
The Director of Business Development is mandated to lead and accelerate growth by identifying strategic opportunities, driving execution, and ensuring alignment across teams. This role serves as a key partner to Sales, Product, and external stakeholders, with a strong focus on delivering measurable business impact.

  • Drive Strategic Growth (Segment Growth Plans): Lead initiatives that expand market presence, increase market shares, and strategically strengthen customer relationships.
  • Support Product Strategy: Act as a sounding board for the Product Manager by analyzing key market segments and helping shape product-market fit.
  • Ensure Execution Excellence: Translate strategy into action by aligning resources, setting priorities, and tracking progress across growth programs.
  • Strengthen Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with Sales, Marketing, Product, and external partners to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Champion Market Responsiveness: Monitor evolving market needs and ensure the business adapts quickly and effectively.
