As a Commercial & Contracting Manager you will be part of a collaborative team supporting customers and colleagues across the globe in our Commercial and Naval Segments. In this role the key part is to provide strategic commercial advice across the Propulsion & Handling portfolio, to secure sustainable maritime solutions.

Responsibilities in this role

  • Shape and support Commercial Contracts for new sales initiatives by  aligning scope, pricing, delivery models, and contractual risk in a manner which supports both market competitiveness and ensures post signature execution capability.
  • Lead commercial negotiations with customers and partners by reviewing, drafting and translating complex offerings into clear, balanced contractual frameworks.
  • Act as a commercial sparring partner to Sales and Project teams throughout the lifecycle from early bid strategy to post-signature resolution.
  • Drive commercial resolution of claims, disputes, and litigation, working closely with our delivery organization, corporate legal and insurance teams to protect the company’s interests while maintaining customer relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies on adviser use, anti-bribery, and export control, embedding these principles into deal execution and contract management.
  • Coordinate with Treasury to secure appropriate financial instruments such as bank guarantees and other payment securities (for example Letter of Credit), ensuring commercial risk is mitigated.
  • Strengthening commercial maturity in the organization by coaching and guiding colleagues on holistic deal thinking, risk awareness, and value-based contracting.

Experience and education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law, Business, Finance, Economics, or similar
  • Experience with complex commercial contracts, ideally in international or project-based environments
  • Exposure to pre- and post-signature commercial work (negotiation, claims, variations, disputes)
  • Experience from Naval / Defence or regulated industries is an advantage, but not a requirement

This employment requires security clearance by the Norwegian National Security Authority. The successful candidate may start work with limited access whilst the clearance is being processed. Please note that this might affect the offer process or employment.
