Contract for Autonomous Undersea Vehicles

Hydroid Inc., USA, a KONGSBERG subsidiary, is awarded a contract for Autonomous Undersea Vehicles (AUVs) and associated support equipment to the US program for “Littoral Battlespace Sensing” (LBS).

Remus-600 (not identical with the LBS version).
The contract value is USD 8.4 million (NOK 52 mill.), and includes five options that may bring the total contract value to USD 77.7 million (NOK 480 mill.) if all options are exercised.

The awarded contract shall be completed within March 2012. If all options are exercised, the deliveries will continue through 2017.

The contract was procured using full and open competitive procedures via the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Centre with three offers received.
