Olav Vittersø new Managing Director in Simrad

In a board meeting on 6 January 2006, Olav Vittersø was appointed new managing director of Simrad. He will take up his new position on January 23.

Olav Vittersø is former Director Marketing and Sales in Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, where he has been in charge of the Middle East affairs. After a number of years as Research Scientist at the Centre for Industrial Research in Oslo, he joined Elektrisk Bureau in 1985, where its defence division was later to become Kongsberg Defence Communications. In 1997 he was appointed Research and Development Manager in Kongsberg Defence Communications, and from 2000 to 2004 he was head of the Tactical Systems division.

Simrad is a fully owned subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime, which again is a part of Kongsberg Gruppen (KONGSBERG). Simrad's main office is situated in Horten, Norway. Simrad manufactures advanced fishfinding equipment, such as sonars, echo sounders and catch monitoring systems, and offers world wide sales and service to the world's fishing fleet. Simrad is also a well recognized and prominent provider of equipment for fishery reseach applications. Following a major reorganisation in 2005, Simrad is now a unambiguous business area within the group.
