Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace signed a contract with the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (FLO) today for preparations for and the start-up of production of the new Naval Strike Missile (NSM). The contract has a scope of MNOK 200 and will run for two years. It refers to the delivery of the fixed equipment to be mounted onboard the first of the new Norwegian Fridtjof Nansen class frigates. The NSM will be one of the main weapons carried by the new frigates.
This contract is a major milestone for KONGSBERG. Full serial production will not commence until after the formal completion of the development phase currently underway, and it is contingent on a special decision being taken by the Storting (Norwegian parliament).
