DP Revalidation/Refresher Competency Assessment
From January 2024, the requirements to revalidate DP certificates will be changing.
To make sure that DP operators keep pace with the developing standards in a fast changing industry, DPOs renewing their certificates will now be asked to demonstrate Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as well as experience.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
This course allows DPOs to refresh their knowledge on DP operations, DP Bridge team work, Emergency DP resource Management and to stay current with the latest industry guidelines. The scheme is designed to help all DPO’s maintain their knowledge of the latest industry guidance and operational best practice and to meet the requirements for revalidation of DPO certificates.
If the DPO has 30 days ormore DP sea time, then the DP Refresher and Competency Assessment
Course may be completed at any time, as required. If the DPO has no DP sea timeor less than 30
days of seat time, then the Revalidation Course may be completed up to sixmonths before the
revalidation dates set by the NI. If the DPO has less than 30 days of DP sea time,the course will be
valid for a period of 12 months only, at which time the DPO must apply to theNI for certificate revalidation.

To revalidate your Limited/Unlimited DP Certificate, you will need to: complete the NI DP Refresher and Competence Assessment (including the NI Revalidation online examination)
OR
be enrolled in an Online NI-approved Continuing Professional Development programme (KM Assessment Tool Coming Soon)
To make sure all applicants have enough time to meet the requirements, The NI will be introducing the changes gradually over the next five years.
