Bringing integrated maritime defense capabilities to Sea-Air-Space 2026

KONGSBERG will highlight its role as a trusted, end-to-end systems integrator across the maritime domain at this year’s Sea-Air-Space exhibition, bringing together capabilities from both Kongsberg Discovery and Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace.

Taking place from 19-22 April at National Harbor, near Washington, D.C., Sea-Air-Space is regarded as one of the most important gatherings for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and wider maritime defense community. For KONGSBERG, it represents a unique opportunity to showcase breakthrough technology - such as the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) and HUGIN Edge AUV – while underlining the integrated nature of a portfolio tailored to support evolving mission requirements.

HUGIN Edge

JSM (Joint Strike Missile)

Showcasing innovation

The JSM is a long-range missile designed to identify and strike targets with high accuracy, even in heavily defended environments. With its stealthy design, advanced guidance systems and sea-skimming flight profile, JSM represents a critical asset for modern naval forces.

“The Joint Strike Missile excels in stealth, precision and survivability, making it a key capability in modern naval warfare,” says Heather Armentrout, President and General Manager, Kongsberg Defense and Aerospace, Inc. “KONGSBERG will soon on-shore this technology, manufacturing the JSM in Virginia to meet global demand.”

In parallel, Kongsberg Discovery will showcase its latest advances in autonomous underwater systems, led by the HUGIN Edge. Designed for expeditionary operations, the system delivers precision data to empower better decision-making, supporting mine countermeasures, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and seabed security, amongst other missions.

“The HUGIN Edge exemplifies mission-flexible, rapidly deployable AUV capability, combining low-logistics operation with the proven reliability and high-quality data performance of the HUGIN family,” comments Rich Patterson, VP Unmanned Platforms, Kongsberg Discovery. “Its autonomous design, low-drag carbon monocoque body and expeditionary operability make it an ideal solution for demanding undersea missions across defense and commercial applications.”

Proven solutions

KONGSBERG’s presence at Sea-Air-Space will center on its ability to deliver seamless, mission-ready solutions through a unified approach across its business areas. With a heritage spanning more than two centuries, the company combines operationally proven systems with continuous innovation, enabling customers to access a comprehensive suite of technologies from a single, trusted partner.

This integrated offering is particularly relevant as defense organizations seek to simplify procurement, enhance interoperability and ensure long-term readiness in increasingly complex operational environments.

Visitors to the KONGSBERG stand will be able to explore a range of advanced capabilities through product models and digital demonstrations, alongside dedicated meeting spaces designed to facilitate discussions with experts across the organization.

Covering the bases

Additional technologies on display include advanced sonar systems such as the ST2400 variable depth sonar, optimized for anti-submarine warfare, and the FL25 sonar, which enhances real-time navigation and obstacle detection for both crewed and uncrewed platforms.

Complementing these capabilities is KONGSBERG’s mobile radar sensor container, a flexible and rapidly deployable solution designed to deliver maritime domain awareness in both routine and emergency scenarios. The containerized system enables users to establish or extend surveillance capabilities quickly, supporting informed decision-making in dynamic operational contexts.

Built on trust

KONGSBERG’s long-standing relationships with the U.S. and allied nations underpin its reputation as a preferred supplier in the defense sector. Its systems are designed to operate reliably in the most demanding environments, supported by a commitment to transparency, performance and continuous development.

At Sea-Air-Space 2026, the company aims to reinforce its position not only as a technology provider, but as a strategic partner capable of delivering integrated solutions that evolve alongside customer needs.

Sea Air Space represents the final event where Kongsberg Discovery and Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace operate as separate organizations, before merging into the new KONGSBERG at the end of the month.
