ELEKTRA

Drive electronics

ELEKTRA is a fully integrated two axis drive electronics unit developed by KONGSBERG to command the angular speed and position based on commands from the Spacecraft. The first generation of ELEKTRA was delivered in the Sentinel 1 program, and has been functioning nominally in-orbit since 2014.

Integrated Control for Precision Motion

ELEKTRA provides fully integrated two‑axis drive electronics capable of independently controlling two 2‑phase stepper motors with configurable power, speed, acceleration, and micro‑stepping for highly accurate positioning.

Redundant and Reliable by Design

Built with full cold redundancy, ELEKTRA ensures robust mission reliability through duplicated controllers, comprehensive electrical protection, and redundant sensing for temperature and status monitoring.

Flight‑Proven Versatility

Compatible with unregulated 20–40 V power buses and already flown on missions such as Sentinel‑1 and Solar Orbiter, ELEKTRA delivers high‑accuracy motion control with low induced forces even for large rotating assemblies.
