Aegir SSA (Subsea Situational Awareness) is a family of commercial sonar systems designed to provide continuous underwater awareness for maritime security, safety, navigation, and infrastructure protection applications. Developed by KONGSBERG, the Aegir family combines proven acoustic sensing technology with compact form factors, simplified integration, and flexible deployment options.
Advanced underwater surveillance for critical environments
Aegir57 is designed for use on fixed installations, buoys and uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) where size is key. Aegir supports the detection, classification, tracking, and monitoring of underwater objects and activities in ports, harbours, coastal areas, offshore installations, and other critical maritime environments.
Built on proven sonar expertise
Built on KONGSBERG’s long-standing sonar expertise, Aegir enables operators to enhance situational awareness below the waterline and supports safer navigation and informed operational decision-making. The sonar family is designed as a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution suitable for civilian, governmental, and dual-use applications with large volumes and short delivery time.
Wide-area coverage in a compact package
The Aegir57 offers a 360-degree search area and a range of 2000 meters. It is still a small, compact system that you can install without the space, weight, or power demands of larger sonar systems. The Aegir57 can be fitted to small crewed or uncrewed vessels, or even remote-controlled floating platforms. This flexibility allows you to deploy persistent underwater coverage wherever it's needed most, quickly, affordably, and without compromising on performance. The Aegir57 gives you a clear picture beneath the waterline where and when it matters.
