Wide band transceiver for use with fish-finding echo sounders and current indicator system
The Wideband Transceiver (WBT) is a highly efficient echo sounder and current indicator transceiver. It is used by small and large fishing vessels all around the world.
The WBT (Wide Band Transceiver) links your transducer (or transducers) to the echo sounder’s Processor Unit (computer). It controls acoustic transmissions and processes the echo signals that return from the water. It is a main component of your echo sounder system.
The WBT (Wide Band Transceiver) offers four 500 W channels. These can either work independently with single-beam transducers, or together with a split-beam transducer. The flexibility allows the transceiver to operate in echo sounder mode for fish-finding, or in ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) mode for current indicator operations.
How it works
When you use the echo sounder system, the WBT (Wide Band Transceiver) sends electrical signals to the transducer. The transducer converts these signals into sound pulses and transmits them into the water. After each transmission, the transducer receives the returning echoes and sends them back to the transceiver. The transceiver filters, amplifies, and converts the echo signals into digital data. The Processor Unit then uses this data to create the echograms and measurements you see on the display. This transmit-and-receive cycle is called a “ping”.
Advanced functionality
The WBT (Wide Band Transceiver) supports several transmission methods. You can use single-frequency pulses, frequency-swept pulses (FM/Chirp), and other waveform types. This allows you to adapt the system to different operating conditions and applications.
The transceiver also operates over a wide frequency range. It provides four independent channels. You can use these channels with single-beam transducers or combine them for split-beam operation. The receiver is designed for low noise and accurate processing of both weak and strong echo signals.
