Single channel gear monitoring receiver
The Simrad SR15 is a single-channel receiver used in Simrad's gear monitoring systems.
The primary purpose of the Simrad SR15 is to receive telemetry data wirelessly from sensors mounted on fishing gear and forward it to the processing computer running the topside gear monitoring software. The SR15 forms the communication link between the underwater sensors and the vessel's gear monitoring system.
In a typical installation, the system consists of one or more gear monitoring sensors, a hydrophone in the hull, the SR15 receiver, and a computer running the topside gear monitoring software. Data flows from the sensor to the hydrophone, from the hydrophone to the SR15, and then from the SR15 to the computer. The gear monitoring software generates the relevant information and presents it to you.
How it works
The Simrad SR15 receives acoustic signals through a connected hydrophone. Sensors mounted on the fishing gear transmit measurement data through the water using acoustic telemetry. The SR15 decodes these signals and transfers the information to the computer, where it presents the data in real time. This allows you to monitor the performance and condition of the fishing gear while fishing operations are in progress.
Sensor support
The Simrad SR15 receiver supports a range of Simrad gear monitoring sensors. These sensors provide information from the trawl. The SR15 collects this information and makes it available to the topside gear monitoring software for presentation, alarm handling, and analysis.
When used with the PX15 gear monitoring system, the following sensors are supported:
- PXC Door
- PXC Headrope
- PX miniDepth
- PX SeineSounder
What is the difference from the SR70?
Unlike the larger Simrad SR70 receiver, which provides four receiving channels, the SR15 offers a single receiving channel. This makes the SR15 a cost-effective solution for installations that require only one hydrophone and a simpler system configuration. Both receivers perform the same basic task of receiving acoustic telemetry from the gear monitoring sensors.
