Health, safety and environment
At KONGSBERG, safety comes first. We never compromise on life and health.
This applies to everyone working for KONGSBERG, including employees, contractors and suppliers. We work proactively to prevent incidents and promote safe and healthy working environments wherever we operate.
Our foundation
A strong HSE culture is built through responsibility, openness, trust and continuous learning. We integrate Health, Safety and Environment into how we plan, make decisions and perform our work. When risks are identified early and addressed proactively, incidents can be prevented and performance improved.
Everyone working for KONGSBERG is encouraged to speak up, share observations and report concerns without fear of retaliation or negative consequences.
Our Vision Zero ambition
Our Vision Zero ambition means that everyone working for KONGSBERG should return home safely every day. Our most important goal is zero fatal accidents and life‑changing injuries, while we actively work to prevent all types of injuries and incidents within our activities.
We achieve this by identifying risk early, acting responsibly and learning continuously.
Learning over blame
We recognise that people want to do a good job and that incidents rarely result from a single failure or individual error. When something goes wrong, our focus is on understanding what happened, why it made sense at the time, and how systems, conditions and barriers can be improved.
By prioritising learning over blame, we create an environment where learnings are shared, root causes are addressed, and improvements are implemented to prevent recurrence. This learning‑based approach strengthens safety, supports organisational resilience and enables continuous improvement.
Stop Work mandate
Everyone working for KONGSBERG has the right and the mandate to Stop Work if an activity poses an immediate threat to health or safety. Exercising Stop Work is an important part of preventing harm.
Stopping work to address unsafe conditions is always supported and will not result in negative consequences. We expect concerns to be raised early so that risks can be managed before incidents occur.
High Risk Incidents (HRI)
All incidents and near misses within KONGSBERG’s activities are assessed to understand what happened and how recurrence can be prevented. Incidents with the potential for severe consequences are classified as High Risk Incidents (HRI) and receive enhanced and focused follow‑up.
HRI cases involve thorough analysis, management involvement and systematic learning across relevant parts of the organisation. Our approach prioritises learning, risk understanding and strengthening barriers to continuously improve safety performance.
safe@KONGSBERG
None of us wants to experience incidents or injuries at work, which is why everyone working for KONGSBERG is encouraged to stay alert and actively look for risks and improvement opportunities. A near miss today can become an accident tomorrow.
