Three strong divisions
KONGSBERG consists of three divisions:
- Defence Systems
- Missiles & Aerostructures
- Discovery
Defence Systems
This division focuses on land systems, air and coastal defence, naval systems and advanced defence solutions. It includes core defence capabilities such as integrated defence systems, weapon platforms and advanced operational solutions. The division carries significant responsibility for deliveries within highly regulated defence environments and plays a central role in meeting growing demand from NATO and allied markets.
Missiles & Aerostructures
This division brings together missile programmes, aerostructures and maintenance capabilities. It includes both subsonic and supersonic missile programmes, aerostructures production and maintenance of airborne platforms. It also has a dedicated Emerging Business unit to support innovation and new growth areas. The division consolidates advanced manufacturing and programme execution under one structure, strengthening end-to-end accountability across complex value chains.
Discovery
This division integrates the former business area Kongsberg Discovery with Space and Surveillance activities. It combines capabilities in underwater technology, sensors, satellite systems and surveillance, creating a cohesive environment for dual-use and cross-domain innovation. Most civilian-oriented activities are gathered within this division. This allows these businesses to operate with the flexibility required to compete in international civilian markets, without being subject to defence-specific rules and processes that apply elsewhere in the company. At the same time, the division benefits from close collaboration with defence and space activities, strengthening technology development across domains.
Ownership structure
Kongsberg Gruppen ASA is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange and is subject to Norwegian securities legislation and stock exchange regulations. The Norwegian state owns 50.004 per cent of the shares in the company.

The UN has defined 17 sustainability development goals the world should reach by 2030. Several of these goals can only be achieved through innovation and the sensible application of technology. To KONGSBERG, this involves business opportunities in several markets viewed in the light of our broad technology and skills platform.
KONGSBERG has acceded to the UN Global Compact initiative. We support and respect international human and employee rights such as the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, ILO Core Conventions and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. KONGSBERG uses the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines for the voluntary reporting of sustainable development.
Our commitment
Value creation
KONGSBERG is an active value creator in the areas and countries where we are present. Our presence creates significant effects that extend beyond our own business area. First and foremost, we create value for our customers through our products and solutions. We are also a significant economic actor. This includes our contributions through tax and fee payments, dividend distribution to our shareholders and salary payments to our dedicated employees. These economic contributions play an important role in the communities where we operate, and support economic stability and growth. In addition to direct contributions, we also create indirect values through our cooperation with our suppliers.
Our procurement of goods and services from various partners helps to strengthen and maintain a broad ecosystem of business relationships that promote value creation at multiple levels. We invest significantly in research and development. This focus on innovation drives forward new thinking and technological progress, and lays the foundation for future value creation not only for our company, but also for the societies we are part of.
