KONGSBERG to build manufacturing plant in Poland

Kongsberg Gruppen ASA (‘KONGSBERG’) is establishing a new manufacturing facility for sustainment and manufacturing of Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS) systems in Poland. The investment will increase the company`s production capability in the all-important drone defence segment.

The facility will sustain and manufacture KONGSBERG’s CUAS solutions for the Polish SAN programme.

“The new facility will support Polish industry and defence capabilities and strengthen KONGSBERG’s presence in Poland. The facility will be an integrated part of KONGSBERG’s global manufacturing network, to serve Poland and other future European customers,” said Eirik Lie, President and CEO of KONGSBERG.

The company will establish the new factory in the Pomeranian region close to the Trójmiasto area in Poland. The exact location of the plant was not unveiled. The investment of more than 200 million zlotys (EUR 45 million) will create more than 100 long-term jobs after the factory has reached full capacity.

KONGSBERG is preparing to enter the construction contract by the end of the year and start construction work immediately after. Serial production can commence in the first half of 2028.

KONGSBERG has been present in Poland for more than 15 years, gradually increasing its capabilities to support project needs. During this period the company has established the Naval Strike Missile sustainment center at WZE and numerous partnerships with Polish industry. The CUAS systems investment further increases KONGSBERG presence in Poland and the close bilateral relationship between Poland and Norway.

KONGSBERG and consortium partner Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) in January signed a contract with the Polish Armaments Agency for the delivery of Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS) to protect the country against the evolving threats from drones.
