Dear FEMME participant,
In the spirit of Genoa’s proud seafaring history, it is a great pleasure to welcome you to FEMME here in Genova.
Genoa’s native son, Cristoforo Colombo, better known as Christopher Columbus, became famous for leading the 1492 expedition across the Atlantic. On 12 October that year, he landed in the Bahamas, believing he had reached the East Indies. His original goal was to find a direct western sea route from Europe to Asia, but his voyages ultimately opened the way for widespread European exploration, trade and colonisation of the Western Hemisphere.
Today, we know far more about where we are, where we are going, and how to get there efficiently. Most of us carry this capability in our hands every day. At sea, however, the picture is very different.
That is why this week is dedicated to the advanced technologies and products that help us understand, map, and operate in the marine environment with greater precision and confidence.
Better decisions below the surface begin with better awareness. During FEMME, I look forward to learning more about the latest trends and emerging technologies, understanding your applications and innovative strategies within the hydrographic field, and exchanging knowledge across disciplines. FEMME is an excellent arena for networking, collaboration, discussion, and learning from one another.
We need these areas more than ever. The world is facing a truly demanding set of challenges, and only by working together can we solve them.

FEMME is an excellent arena for networking, collaboration, discussion, and learning from one another.

In today’s complex operating environment, better and more precise information and data are essential. The oceans cover most of the Earth’s surface, yet they remain largely unexplored and hold enormous potential for scientific research and discovery. Our extensive range of versatile seafloor mapping products is designed to support efficient exploration, mapping, visualisation, and analysis of the seabed, helping to unlock the secrets of the deep. These tools are complemented by Blue Insight, a powerful platform for data processing and cloud-based sharing.
Whether you want to get more from the systems you use every day, learn about the latest capabilities, or ask detailed technical questions directly to our experts, the workshops are designed to help you work more effectively and gain the greatest possible value from your solutions.
Welcome once again to FEMME in Genova. I wish you an inspiring week and a pleasant stay.
Kind regards,
Camilla Kiss
