Professionals place KONGSBERG among Norway’s top employers in Universum

With a 2nd place in Engineering, 3rd in IT, and 4th in Business, KONGSBERG has strengthened its position in this year’s Universum Professional Awards. The results show clear progress from 2024 and confirm KONGSBERG’s strong standing as one of the most attractive employers for professionals in Norway.

KONGSBERG has made noticeable gains across all three disciplines: up two places in Engineering, up four in IT, and up two in Business. The ranking is based on responses from more than 8,000 young professionals with higher education and up to eight years of work experience, across six different professional fields. This provides a representative view of what employees value in an employer.

Behind the results is a long-standing and consistent effort to strengthen KONGSBERG’s position as an attractive workplace for professionals.

HR and communications teams have worked closely across the company over time, increasing visibility in relevant channels and clearly communicating what KONGSBERG offers as an employer – and how the technologies developed contribute to protecting both people and the planet.

“We are experiencing strong growth and need to attract more skilled professionals. Our improved rankings and stronger position show that what we stand for – both professionally and in terms of values – is being clearly recognised"

Anne Gro Kjørstad, Manager HR Services at KONGSBERG.

Attracting young professionals starts well before working life. Through summer internships, Trainee programmes, YourExtreme, partnerships with universities and university colleges, and other long-term initiatives, KONGSBERG actively promotes STEM subjects and highlights the wide range of opportunities available across the company.

This effort has helped establish a clear and relevant presence throughout the education journey and into the transition to working life – regardless of field of study or industry.

“It’s about being present early and generating interest in the fields we work in – whether that’s ocean space, defence, autonomy, or sustainable technology. For many, their first encounter with KONGSBERG happens during their studies, and it’s important that this gives a strong and realistic impression of our work, our purpose, and the opportunities available,” says Kjørstad.

This year’s results confirm that long-term efforts are having an impact, while also providing valuable insight into what matters most to professionals. They also offer a solid foundation for further developing KONGSBERG’s work to remain an attractive workplace across disciplines and business areas.
