Norway plans to order more NASAMS air defence for Ukraine

The Norwegian government today announced its intention to order a further ten NASAMS launch units and four fire control centers from Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace (KONGSBERG) for donation to Ukraine. The new order is subject to approval by the Norwegian Parliament and will come in addition to repurchasing the equipment that has already been donated to Ukraine.

“The Norwegian NASAMs system saves Ukrainian lives and prevent the destruction of buildings and infrastructure. The Russian missile and drone attacks are extensive and brutal, so air defence is absolutely decisive for Ukraine. At the same time, I am concerned that we reacquire air defences for our own defence as quickly as possible,” said Norwegian Defence Minister Bjørn Arild Gram in a statement.

The individual contract(s) will be announced once the purchasing process has been concluded.

NASAMS is today the world-leading air defence system, jointly offered by KONGSBERG and Raytheon. It is one of the most flexible solutions in the market and covers a wide range of air defence needs.
