About the role
As a Senior Design Engineer within POD propulsion, you will play a key role in the development of our POD systems. You will be technically responsible for 3D design, review, and follow-up of products from early concepts to final delivery. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues in Sweden and Finland, as well as with international suppliers and customers. Your work will include product development, detailed design, and the design of moving components for customer-specific adaptations.
PODs are high-tech, fully electric propulsion systems and a vital part of our portfolio of environmentally friendly marine solutions, offering high performance, low noise levels, and outstanding manoeuvrability.
The position is based in Kristinehamn, Sweden or Turku, Finland, and some travel is required.
Key responsibilities
- Design and development of mechanical and electrotechnical components in POD systems, with a focus on moving parts and complex mechanical systems
- Work in Siemens NX and manage drawings in Teamcenter
- Conduct design reviews and support junior colleagues
- Ensure products meet technical and customer-specific requirements
- Participate in new development projects, adapt products to customer needs, and contribute to improvements in the existing product portfolio
- Maintain continuous contact with suppliers and customers to ensure correct components, quality, and delivery
About you
You have a strong technical interest and a positive, solution-oriented mindset. You thrive in a collaborative environment with many interfaces and are driven to deliver high-quality products to our customers.
We are looking for someone with:
- A degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or electronics
- Strong skills in 3D CAD
- Experience in complex mechanical design, including moving parts
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for projects and deliveries
- Experience in conducting design reviews and mentoring colleagues
Meritorious qualifications:
- Experience with Teamcenter or other PDM systems
- Knowledge in electronics, hydraulics, or marine systems
- Experience in international collaboration and supplier relations
- Experience or knowledge in metallurgy is also highly valued
