Visualization of deep sea mineral exploration

Listen

Electromagnetic sensor

Listen is a passive electrode- and magnetometer system for electric- and magnetic field measurements in sea water. The system is modular and can be implemented into various underwater vehicles. Listen is perfect for inspection of subsea cathodic protection systems, positioning of buried power cables and marine mineral exploration.

Precision Contactless CP Measurements

Listen delivers highly accurate, contactless cathodic protection (CP) measurements for subsea pipelines. Utilising advanced silver/silver chloride electrodes flush-mounted on an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), the system captures reliable 3D electric field data without physical contact. This innovative approach ensures minimal noise, exceptional signal quality, and precise assessment of pipeline integrity, even at depths of up to 6000 metres.

Seamless Integration and Rapid Analysis

The Listen system seamlessly integrates with the AUV’s navigation, environmental, and imaging data. Its robust electronics and automatic quality control enable swift data processing and evaluation, providing operators with immediate insights into CP system status. Combined with camera, sonar, and laser data, Listen supports comprehensive, real-time pipeline analysis and visualisation in 3D.

Reliable Performance in Challenging Environments

Designed for both exposed and buried pipelines, Listen maintains high accuracy and repeatability, even in demanding subsea conditions. The system’s redundancy and noise suppression features ensure consistent results, while its ability to estimate anode material consumption rates allows for proactive maintenance planning. Operators benefit from efficient, non-intrusive surveys that safeguard pipeline health and extend asset lifespan.
