Precision multibeam echo sounder for underwater platforms

The EM2042 DR600 is an advanced multibeam echo sounder designed for high‑resolution seabed mapping at depths of up to 600 meters. Built for both crewed and uncrewed underwater platforms, including propelled and towed vehicles, it delivers accurate bathymetry and backscatter data for detailed seafloor surveys and precise navigation in complex underwater terrain. Pressure‑resistant titanium housings and subsea‑qualified electronics ensure reliable performance in demanding environments.

Precision mapping to 600 m

EM2042 DR600 is engineered for accurate seabed mapping across a wide depth range. High‑resolution, multi‑frequency bathymetry and seabed backscatter support detailed terrain modelling, object detection, and navigation tasks. The system is designed to meet and exceed IHO Exclusive Order / LINZ Special Standard requirements, providing confidence in data quality for demanding survey operations.

Advanced multibeam performance

The system features multi‑transmitter technology with dynamic focusing on both transmit and receive paths, including stabilization for roll, pitch, and true multi‑transmitter yaw. Unique dual‑RX configurations using a single transmitter enable up to 4096 soundings per swath, delivering high sounding density and improved seafloor definition. Dual Swath and QuadSwath™ (Single RX) further enhance coverage and efficiency in high‑speed surveys.

Optimized for underwater platforms

With a wide 150–700 kHz frequency range, EM2042 DR600 can be tuned for different tasks—from extended‑range mapping to high‑resolution inspection and small‑object detection. Lightweight transducers and next‑generation electronics reduce power consumption, making the system well suited for underwater vehicles with limited payload capacity. Seamless integration with Kongsberg SIS and third‑party hydrographic software ensures efficient operation across a variety of platforms and workflows.
