Best practices when configuring a Seapath for a bathymetric survey with an EM

⏰ 10:00-11:00

📌 South Gallery Room 13

This workshop provides a practical, engineer focused walkthrough on how to configure a KONGSBERG Seapath system to achieve optimal performance when paired with an EM multibeam echosounder for bathymetric surveying. Participants will learn about the essential configuration steps, recommended data outputs, and integration considerations needed to ensure high-quality positioning, motion compensation, and timing—key components for generating reliable seafloor mapping results.

Through real-world examples and guidance from experienced system specialists, the session will cover:

  • How to set up and validate Seapath outputs for the EM processing unit
  • Recommended navigation and attitude data streams for robust survey performance
  • Integration nuances between Seapath, SIS/K-Controller, and EM multibeam systems

At the end of the workshop, attendees will have a clear understanding of how to confidently configure Seapath for different platforms and survey conditions, ensuring accurate and consistent bathymetric data acquisition.

Logging and Post-Processing Position & INS Data for EM Systems Integrated with Seapath

⏰ 11:00-12:00

📌 South Gallery Room 13

This demonstration driven session provides a clear, end-to-end walkthrough of how to log and post-process navigation and inertial data when operating an EM multibeam system integrated with a Seapath positioning and INS solution. Designed for hydrographers, survey engineers, and technical operators, the workshop will highlight the full workflow—from configuring logging outputs to handling data in post-processing software.

Participants will learn:

  • How to correctly configure and capture position, attitude, IMU, and heave data streams from Seapath during EM operations
  • Best practices for organizing and managing logged navigation and INS datasets alongside KMALL files
  • A step-by-step demonstration of post-processing procedures, including importing data, synchronizing time sources, validating sensor performance, and generating refined navigation solutions
  • How processed navigation and INS outputs feed into final bathymetric products for improved accuracy and consistency

By the end of this session, attendees will have a practical understanding of the complete acquisition to post-processing chain and the confidence to apply consistent, reliable workflows in real-world survey operations.
