Payroll Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen as Payroll Accountant, reporting to Finance Manager, Americas. As the Payroll Accountant, it will be your responsibility to accurately process and manage the payroll for Kongsberg Maritime Inc.  This includes calculating wages, benefits contributions, and taxes, while also ensuring compliance with local tax regulation across multiple tax jurisdictions.  You will work closely with the HR department ensuring accuracy in employee information for payroll, as well as accuracy in reported payroll expenses.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate employee wages, salaries, bonuses, and other compensation accurately
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including new hires, terminations, and changes in compensation
  • Verify and reconcile timesheets, attendance records, and overtime calculations
  • Calculate and withhold federal, state, and local income taxes
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax reports and payments in compliance with applicable laws
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax regulations and adjust payroll processes accordingly
  • Administer employee benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions
  • Ensure deductions and contributions are accurately reflected in payroll
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations related to payroll
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports to government agencies as required
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll and benefits
  • Prepare necessary documentation and reports for audits

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years previous experience in payroll processing and accounting
  • Proficiency in Pensoft payroll software and AX 2012 preferred, Microsoft Excel required
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and labor laws across various states as related to payroll preferred, not required
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information
