Synthetic Data Generation for AI and Computer Vision
MATRIX focuses on simulation and synthetic data generation in Unreal Engine 5. The objective is to produce high-quality training data for AI and Computer Vision systems, with a particular focus on infrared (IR) data during the 2026 project cycle.
Many AI applications are limited by access to sufficient training data. MATRIX explores how realistic virtual environments can be used to generate large-scale datasets for developing and validating machine learning models.
The project sits at the intersection of game technology, simulation, computer vision and artificial intelligence, making it particularly relevant for students interested in AI-enabled perception systems.
