Cutting Edge Autonomy
Depending on your vehicle and payload, both mission-planning and execution can be autonomous. Operators define what needs to be achieved, such as surveying an area or inspecting a pipeline, and the vehicle plans and executes the task autonomously. During the mission, HUGIN adapts in real time to terrain, obstacles, and environmental changes, adjusting its path and sensor use without human input.
It can detect anomalies, revisit targets, and even re-plan routes mid-dive. In pipeline surveys, for example, HUGIN automatically tracks and follows the pipe, maintaining optimal sensor coverage.
While operators can monitor progress and intervene if needed, the system is designed to operate independently, even on multi-day missions with no contact. This level of autonomy reduces workload, increases reliability, and ensures mission success across commercial, naval, and scientific operations.

Through its sensor payload, HUGIN delivers exceptional data, meaning ultra-high-resolution sensor data, precise positioning accuracy and reliable, consistent performance in seabed mapping and inspection missions.
HUGIN achieve this exceptional data quality through a combination of advanced acoustic sensors (like the HISAS 1032 synthetic aperture sonar and EM2040 multibeam echo sounder) and state-of-the-art inertial navigation systems, all tightly integrated on a stable, deep-rated platform. The result is precision data you can trust: every sonar pixel and depth sounding is accurately georeferenced, with centimeter-level resolution and survey-grade positioning even over long-duration missions.
Weeks of Endurance
From shore to seafloor and back again
HUGIN Endurance sets the benchmark for mission duration – up to 16 days and 2200 km – without resurfacing or recharging. Thousands of square kilometers can be surveyed in a single Endurance mission. For perspective, that’s enough to map an entire offshore lease block or to do broad-area reconnaissance of an ocean basin in one go.
