Awarded by the US Green Building Council, LEED v4.1 BD+C: New Construction represents the latest and most rigorous global standard for high-performance, environmentally sustainable buildings. U.S. Green Building Council’s global project directory confirms the Mawson Lakes Facility is among the first ten buildings worldwide to achieve LEED v4.1 BD+C: New Construction at the Platinum level.
Achieving LEED Platinum, the highest certification level, recognises exceptional outcomes in energy efficiency, emissions reduction, water conservation, responsible use of materials, and occupant wellbeing. Platinum certification is achieved by a comparatively small proportion of projects worldwide, underscoring the significance of this accomplishment within Australia.

This achievement places KONGSBERG at the forefront of sustainable industrial development in Australia and highlights the company’s commitment to deliver advanced defence capability in a responsible manner.
“Being the first in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere to achieve LEED Platinum certification for this category is a significant milestone for KONGSBERG Australia,” said Simon Ridgway, Director Operations South Australia. “It reflects our commitment not only to supporting the Australian Defence Force with world-leading capability, but also to doing so in a way that minimises environmental impact and supports long-term sustainability.”

The Platinum certification for our Mawson Lakes facility in Australia underscores KONGSBERG’s broader global sustainability ambitions and commitment to environmental leadershi
