Our Americas division is responsible for Kongsberg Maritimes services, upgrades, and support in the aftermarket. Our 2,300 employees are present in 35 different countries around the world. During the operational lifetime of more than 30,000 installations, we ensure cost-efficient delivery of services, upgrades, and spare parts to secure availability and predictability to our customers.

We are looking for a collaborative and determined Senior Field Service Engineer - ICS.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide technical support on Kongsberg’s Automation Systems for vessels working with Power Management Systems, Fire & Gas Systems, Emergency Shutdown Systems, Custody Transfer Systems, Gas Management System, Advanced Generator Supervisor and other automation systems delivered by the Company in an upgrade, modification, and after-sale capacity.
  • Service onboard vessels with Company’s systems.
  • Troubleshoot via phone and email support lines.
  • Execute service assignments as requested by the customer.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of service reports, timesheets and expense reports following service assignments per work order.
  • Responsible for production and updates to As-Built Documentation and Drawings.
  • Develop qualifications through internal/external training courses.
  • Support sales and marketing with technical information.
  • Interface with customer and internal engineering groups.
  • Provide preventative and corrective maintenance to Kongsberg control systems. Read and interpret drawings and controls system architecture.
  • Utilize multimeter/SW tools for troubleshooting communication or loop errors and knowledge of Power Management Systems, generator, and governor control functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and modify to HVAC and Fire & Gas control systems (Autronica).
  • Able to add or modify control logic.
  • Suggest improvements of products and report needs to Service Manager or product department.
  • Proactively suggest to customers available upgrades/new products while onboard.
  • Carry out actions to prevent errors within delivery and after-sales deliveries.
  • Support Key Support Managers with after-sales quotations.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field of study.
  • Four (4) years’ experience in Automation & Controls systems for vessels with ability to produce and interpret technical documentation, troubleshoot low voltage electrical components, use of multimeters, etc. based on knowledge of general Electrical/Electronic control system concepts such as PID controllers, filters, communication protocols.
  • On call during weekends, holidays and/or 24/7.
  • Willing to travel on short notice.
  • Willing to stay Offshore as well as travel on helicopters and crew boats.
  • Up to 50% (95% domestic travel plus 5% international travel).
