Norway in a tri-party collaboration between Royal Norwegian Navy, the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment and KONGSBERG, are developing a sovereign capability for a fully autonomous Maritime MCM capacity providing safe stand-off distance to all vessels and personnel in the MMCM taskforce. 

The NMCM capability consists of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV) carrying mine hunting underwater vehicles, mine disposal systems and minesweeping gear into the minefield which then is launched from the USVs for autonomous operation. The capability may be deployed on a dedicated MCM vessel, vessel of opportunity or from shore. KONGSBERG is the national industry lead and systems integrator for this effort.
