Techstars is one of the world’s largest startup accelerators. Together with partnering companies, they invest in and mentor founders and startups to help accelerate businesses in three month programs. Techstars Energy Accelerator seeks innovative solutions within four areas in the energy sector: oil and gas, new business models, digitalization and renewables.

“The digital economy is scalable and global in nature, which means “the next big thing” can come from anywhere. Some of today’s most valuable companies were startups in basements and garages not long ago. Getting some help and added experience along the way, however, can make the journey a little easier,” says Hege Skryseth, CEO Kongsberg Digital and EVP KONGSBERG.

The Techstars partner companies provide mentors, share their expertise and network in order to help the startups. In three months, the goal is to accelerate the businesses with the equivalent of two years’ work. The culmination is a demo day where the participants pitch for investors. Last year, several of them signed MoUs with the KONGSBERG and Equinor.
“We want to contribute by providing a network and experience, as well as domain knowledge within energy and digitalization. At the same time, we are looking very much forward to seeing what we can learn from the startups,” Skryseth comments.Techstars Energy Accelerator is the only Nordic Techstars accelerator, and will run for the second time in 2019.
Applications for the Techstars Energy Accelerator open on February 18th and close on May 12th 2019.
