Simrad SP90 Transducer technology
By means of the latest transducer technology, the Simrad SP90 can operate on any frequency from 20 to 30 kHz.
When you operate in an area where other sonars are transmitting, you can simply change to another operating frequency. This is far better than using signal processing filters to eliminate interference, as these may cause you to loose valuable fish echoes.
The Simrad SP90 can also be used on two frequencies simultaneously. You will find this feature useful when you wish to evaluate a school of fish more accurately. As you may know, it is a well accepted fact that differing fish species reflect some frequencies better than others. Mackerel, Herring, Capelin and other species all have different reflective characteristics to a specific single frequency. The sonar's ability to quickly change frequency and maximize its performance is a very cost effective feature, and one that is already paying dividends in the North Sea fishery.
The Simrad SP90 now features dual vertical presentation. This allows you to track two fish schools independently, and to evaluate these more accurately. Which one represents the largest or more profitable target? Due to the advanced beamforming techniques developed by Simrad's designers, the SP90 consistently provides a clear picture of how close to the seabed the fish schools are located. In addition, the same advanced beamforming allows fish schools to be tracked all the way back to the ship.
Simrad continues to develop the SP90 and all updates are available either free or at very low cost, making it not only catch efficient but also cost effective.
