Simrad PI Geometry Maintenance
Maintenance
Charging
The Simrad PI Geometry sensor must be charged between operations. To charge the PI Geometry sensor, use one of the following chargers:
- Simrad PI Charger
- Simrad PI MaxiCharger.
The Simrad PI Mini-R responders must also be charged between operations. To charge the PI Mini-R responders, use one of the following chargers:
- Simrad PI Charger
- Simrad PI MiniCharger
The battery lifetime depends on the update rate you have chosen.
When the sensor is not in use, check that the sensor lamp is not flashing, as this indicates that the sensor is active and discharging its batteries. In this case, wash the sensor in fresh water.
Maintenance
Once installed and put to use, the sensor will automatically be switched on once the water switch is activated. After an initial start-up, the sensor starts transmission of the measured data it collects.
When the sensor is not in use, check that the sensor lamp is not flashing, as this indicates that the sensor is active and discharging its batteries. In this case, wash the sensor in fresh water. You can also apply a thin layer of silicone grease to the sensor surface to disrupt any residues of salt that may have built up.
All sensors are equipped with a water switch, and two different types are used. If your sensor is equipped with a sacrificial brass screw, the screw will gradually be worn out.
Check the brass screw from time to time to remove corrosion, or replace it if necessary.
