Official opening of Kongsberg Maritime's New Training Centre

This week was the official opening of Kongsberg Maritime's expanded training centre in Horten. Located on the dockside of the inner harbour, the centre is set to welcome course participants from around the world.

The team, consisting of seven instructors, will be able to provide a complete set of combined or individual courses within Dynamic Positioning, Navigation, Automation and Subsea technology.

In addition to standard courses, the center will focus on the training needs of individuals and will offer customised solutions developed in cooperation with customers and the Kongsberg Maritime Training team.

A week long course can now be compressed into a package consisting of, e.g., a three day HiPAP course with a two day DP refresher course using the advanced simulators on site. We will also be able to set up courses based on a specific vessel, with up to nine participants from each organisation.

"We believe the learning situation improves with a familiar visual set-up from real operations. The new courses are already established and working well for our customers. We look forward to building on this very strong start for the new centre," says head of the location's Training Center Arild Røen.

"Collaboration across different product areas and locations enables us to operate more efficiently and opens the opportunity to offer compressed training packages that will provide cost savings for the customer," adds Rita Krathe, coordinator of the new training center.

The new training centre offers the full portfolio of Kongsberg Maritime's training courses, including:

  • Positioning Reference Courses
  • Subsea and Marine Robotics
  • Radar and Navigation Courses
  • Dynamic Positioning Courses
