New Norwegian maritime technology at Nor-Shipping 2015

Norway's largest and most globally recognised maritime technology developer, Kongsberg Maritime, is planning to exhibit a number of new products at Nor-Shipping 2015, which takes place in Lillestrøm, Near Oslo next week (2-5 June). Exhibiting on stand C03-24, the company will show how its technology can support the future of shipping.

As part of this, Kongsberg Maritime will unveil the new shape of its bridge & navigation technology portfolio, including an all-new product family tailored for the SOLAS market and meeting all mandatory requirements from respective flag states. The new product line will be delivered through a Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) delivery model as a more standardised solution, ensuring low costs without compromising on the highly-regarded KONGSBERG quality.

In parallel, Kongsberg Maritime will launch the next generation of its flagship Integrated Bridge System, K-Bridge. The upgraded system meets the highest requirements from rules and regulations regarding integration, positioning it as a highly flexible solution for vessels with demanding navigation and maneuvering needs. The new K-Bridge will be shown at Nor-Shipping as part of a K-Master Bridge solution.

New products from Kongsberg Maritime's vessel automation portfolio will be introduced at Nor-Shipping, including a new COTS steering system aimed at vessels that don't require fully integrated maneuvering solutions. In addition, a new contemporary line of feature-rich electronic logbooks covering Engine Logbook, Deck Logbook, Oil Record Book 1, Radio Logbook and Garbage Logbook will be launched.

New features to Kongsberg Maritime's Information Management System (K-IMS) will also be unveiled. An advanced web-based communications platform for the maritime and offshore industry, K-IMS is designed to enable continuous access to data both onboard and ashore. New to K-IMS this year is a benchmarking function, which enables comparison of performance figures to accurate reference values. Benchmarking of comparable vessels operating under comparable conditions can increase performance awareness and knowledge sharing between regions. At Nor-Shipping 2015, K-IMS will be integrated with Kongsberg Maritime navigation systems to show how a specific vessel performs compared to other vessels in a specific fleet.

Kongsberg Maritime will also launch a brand new book about Dynamic Positioning (DP) at Nor-Shipping 2015. Titled ‘The Jewel in the Crown', the book is written by two Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) professors, Stig Kvaal and Per Østby. More information about the book will be available from 2nd June, and the authors and important contributors can be met during a book launch at Burns, Stortingsgata 28, in Oslo on 2nd June at 5.30 pm.
