KONGSBERG receives the prestigious Norwegian-American Trade Award.

The price puts KONGSBERG in company with businesses such as Statoil, DNV GL, Snøhetta and Jotun with more. The prize is awarded by the Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce.

The Norwegian – American Trade Award intention is to work as a symbol of excellence to a Norwegian-related company that has demonstrated extraordinary courage, achievement and success in business.

The award moreover recognizes exemplary accomplishment in developing and expanding trade and investment between Norway and the United States, dedication to quality, innovation in production, marketing and distribution, business integrity, and commitment to community service. The price was handed out by Cameron Beard, Executive Vice president of NACC.

“What better reception of the award could it be? KONGSBERG has been in business for 200 years. Over the course of its existence it’s have been trading heavily in the United States, KONGSBERG is still heavily involved in the U.S, it’s a valued partner in the defence industry as well as across other industries. We can’t think of a better recipient than KONGSBERG, concludes Cameron Beard.

The award ceremony was held during a gala dinner at The Metropolitan Club in New York.

The United States represents by far the largest marketplace for KONGSBERG. This is true today and in the foreseeable future. All of KONGSBERGs four business areas are represented in the United States, generating jobs and value, and pursuing new opportunities both in the civilian and military sector. 

Eirik Lie, acting President of Kongsberg Defence Systems, received the award on behalf of KONGSBERG.  

“KONGSBERG is much appreciative for receiving this renowned award. We have great expectations for the continued collaboration with our American partners and customers. This award is recognition of all the hard work and efforts… of the many people that has contributed to our successes in the United States. Let me use this opportunity to thank you all at large, and in particular the national board of the NACC for bestowing upon us this great honor”, Lie said in his speech of thanks.

124 YEARS IN THE U.S
“Eirik Lie, please describe the importance for KONGSBERG of receiving this prestigious award”

“I think this is very important for KONGSBERG. We have been in the United States for quite a few years, actually since 1892 which makes 124 years. The starting point was with the Krag-Jørgensen rifle and that was a big success back in those days with more than 500 000 rifles produces. We are really honoured and if you look at this event and the previous award winners, we are in an exclusive club now, concludes Eirik Lie.
