Hull-mounted hydrophone for gear monitoring sensors
The Simrad PI Trawl Hydrophone is dedicated to bottom and pelagic trawlers. It is designed to provide the best possible communication with the wireless gear monitoring sensors located on your pelagic or bottom trawls.
Install the hydrophone under the hull
For effective use and maximum performance, install one or two hydrophones pointing towards the aft of the vessel. Pay attention to the noise generated by the propellers! Each hydrophone must be meticulously mounted to ensure quality communication.
Beam pattern
We have designed the Simrad PI Trawl hydrophone with a 50-degree horizontal beam and a 30-degree vertical beam. This design offers the gear monitoring system with optimal reception from the sensors on a bottom or pelagic trawl. The beam pattern is particularly suited for trawling. It provides a wide coverage and reduces the need for careful alignment.
