Kongsberg Global Customer Support division is responsible for Kongsberg Maritime Customer Services and Aftermarket support. 2300 Customer Support employees are present in 40 different countries around the world. During the operational lifetime of more than 30.000 installations, we ensure cost-efficient and effective onboard services, upgrades and spare parts to secure availability and predictability to our customers.
Our customers demand maximum up-time on their assets and strive to keep total cost as low as possible. Global Customer Support, responsible for the Aftermarket shall be reliable and act when territory customers require system upgrades, refits systems.

We are searching for an efficient , capable & ambitious Field Service Engineer with focus on the territory Merchant Marine Customers and any other stakeholder who might be interested in Kongsberg’s Maritime Value proposition.

 

Overall Tasks & responsibilities

• The Field Service Engineer will be a member of the Service Delivery Team
• Undertake routine on-site repair plan maintenances, damages, warranties, and service operations within a defined work scope on a range of products. Technical support from the product centers, will be available when required
• Dismantle, inspect, and evaluate equipment and their need for repair, replacement, based on product requirements, technical data and check list guidelines, ensuring the proper functionality of the system
• Ability to adopt a systematic approach towards identifying and then solving a problem or issue by gathering maximum information to define the actual problem and provide the best possible solution by generating and evaluating all possible solutions
• Hold responsibility for ensuring that specific maintenance work scope is professionally administered on a day-to-day basis through on-site liaison with the customer, whilst maintaining all relevant technical documentation.
• Ensure that all work is done in accordance with applicable legal and Company procedures, Health & Safety policies including code of conduct
• Knowledge sharing and support within technical department
• Other general tasks within the service team
• The position require service travelling Local, in Europe & Mediterranean Sea and sometimes outside area.


Skills and Requirements

• Graduated from college / university in electronics automation technology / engineering (MSc, or equivalent would be a plus)
• Technical knowledge of automation engineering technology, such as, propulsion control systems, process controls and computer controlled mechanical systems
• Hands on experience, repair / overhaul of automation ships equipment
• Experience in the wider Shipping Industry for at least 5 years, preferably in Engineering / Service
• Performance Driven self-orientation
• Customer facing technical and/or business support experience
• English language skills, both in speech and in writing
• Practical and analytical skills with documented ability to execute and deliver
• Good communication skills and understanding of international relationship and cultures
• Commercial Understanding
