Norwegian Prime Minister turns to KONGSBERG for solutions

Kongsberg Maritime in Ålesund got a surprise visit from Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg late August. Solberg wanted to learn more about how the maritime sector is progressing towards the green shift.

Per Erik Dalen, cluster leader at Global Centre of Expertise (GCE) Blue Maritime, representing over 210 maritime oriented companies in Norway, kicked off the surprise visit by talking with the Prime Minister about a possible New Blue Deal focusing on the future value chains for the maritime cluster.

Kongsberg Maritime’s Head of Sustainability Marte Tyldum Ellingsen got the opportunity to spend some time highlighting green opportunities and showcasing concrete examples of how Kongsberg Maritime is currently creating value in the green economy.

Svein Kleven, SVP Energy Systems and Anette B. Wollebæk, VP Communication & Public Affairs teamed up and engaged the Prime Minister in a discussion focusing on possible solutions for the maritime industry going forward.

The Prime Minister also got the chance to visit Kongsberg Maritime’s Ship Intelligence lab where Marte Tyldum Ellingsen and Kongsberg Maritime's VP Analytics & Fleet Operations Jan Chirkowski demonstrated how surveillance and digital solutions will be essential on the way towards green shipping.

The visit then concluded with a short stop at the Offshore Simulator Centre’s simulator dome where CEO Joel Mills focused on sustainable community planning.
