Norspace wins new order from Space Systems/Loral for TCR equipment

Horten, Norway 5th October 2010 - Norspace AS has signed its third contract with Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) for delivery of Telemetry Command and Ranging (TCR) products. The latest contract was signed in June and follows two earlier contracts signed in 2008 and 2009. The three contracts together cover fourteen equipment units for four different satellites.

In addition to the three contract awards from SS/L, Norspace is also under contract to supply TCR equipment to a European satellite manufacturer. Norspace started to develop TCR products in 2006 as a strategic move to become less dependent on its other core analog signal processing and frequency generation products. These products are mostly used in satellites with on-board processing and are subject to significant fluctuations in demand over the years. The TCR products are used in all commercial GEO satellites and are therefore much more stable in demand. Commenting on the contract award, Norspace’s President Sverre Bisgaard said: “It is very encouraging that SS/L is entrusting us with follow-on orders for TCR equipment and that our investments in this new product range are starting to bear fruits.”   Another four TCR units to be delivered under the latest contract
