LedaFlow and Kongsberg Maritime agree on potential co-operation

The LedaFlow® owners have entered into a Term Sheet Agreement with Kongsberg Maritime for the potential co-operation on commercialization of the Leda technology.

LedaFlow® has been developed as a research project since 2002 and is based on a rigorous representation of the fundamental physical and chemical (compositional) properties of oil and gas flow, combined with experimental data from the SINTEF Multiphase Flow Laboratory at Tiller in Trondheim. A unique three dimensional CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) formulation has been developed, enabling first-principles simulation and visualisation of waves, slugs, droplets and bubbles in a multiphase pipeline flow. This formulation has been implemented in LedaFlow® in one-dimensional, two-dimensional and quasi three dimensional software modules.

Kongsberg Maritime has established a new business unit; Multiphase Flow Solutions, to industrialize LedaFlow®. The new unit will be located in Kongsberg Maritime's Oil and Gas Technology node in Sandvika, Norway. The unit will offer LedaFlow® on a global basis both as an autonomous study- and engineering tool, and as embedded products for e.g. real time production management solutions. The unit will also offer study and consultancy services.
