Kongsberg will upgrade Statoil`s Heidrun platform

HeidrunKongsberg Simrad AS, which is part of the Kongsberg Group, has been awarded a contract worth appr. MNOK 30 by Statoil. The contract is to upgrade the Safety and Automation System of the Heidrun platform.

This Heidrun contract is part of a long-term cooperation with Statoil, which also embraces operation maintenance and modifications on Statfjord A, B and C, Norne and Åsgard A and B.

"The Norwegian oil and gas market with its many extensions and modifications is an important marketing target for Kongsberg Simrad. The Heidrun contract joins a number of similar orders for the other Statoil installations, for which we have a general agreement.", says Kongsberg Simrad`s Marketing Director Tor Erik Sørensen.

Following the upgrade of the Safety and Automation System (SAS) on Heidrun, the platform will be well prepared to meet future challenges. In addition to the Heidrun platform, Statoil also has the Åsgard A and B installations in the Halten/Nordland area for which Kongsberg Simrad AS have delivered complete safety and automation systems, and maritime systems including positioning and ballasting.

"This contract will bring the systems on Heidrun up to the same technological level as the modern Åsgard installations. A particular feature of this project is that the replacement of equipment will take place during full production. The final upgrade of the control logic will be carried out during a planned production shutdown.", says Sørensen.
