The Norwegian Armed Forces conducted last Friday night, Norwegian time, in California, a test firing of the Naval Strike Missile (NSM). The test was unsuccessful as the booster did not ignite. KONGSBERG has analysed the preliminary data from the test.
We would like to point out that the episode has no influence on the continuation of the NSM programme and has no impact on the financial results. The project has taken this type of risk into account.
The course of events during the firing sequence proceeded normally right up to the ignition of the booster; when it did not ignite as it should have, the missile was rendered harmless. Data from the countdown sequence was nevertheless secured for further use in the programme.
