Performance-Based Autonomy: It’s All About The Data
Uncrewed Vehicles & Vessels: Enabling Sensors and Software
Richard Mills has been involved in the underwater vehicle community for more than 15 years. The main focus of this time has been Autonomous Underwater Vehicles for defence, scientific and commercial applications. He joined the underwater vehicle industry first with International Submarine Engineering Ltd. (ISE) in Vancouver, Canada, before moving to Kongsberg in September 2012. Richard is a member of the Society of Underwater Technology Panel on Underwater Robotics and a life member of the Marine Technology Society. He is a technical reviewer for the MTS Oceans conferences and has acted as a competition judge at the Singapore AUV Challenge and Office for Naval Research RoboSub competitions. Richard’s interests in AUV technology include the implementation of autonomy to further performance in remote and challenging environments, having contributed to Arctic surveys and more recently over-the-horizon concept of operations for long endurance AUVs.
