Get to know Ivonne Auerbach

The next person up in the KDI article series “The people of KDI” is Ivonne Auerbach. Ivonne is 27 years old and got a bachelor’s degree in Shipping management. Born in Bergen, Norway, Ivonne grew up in Bulgaria before she decided to move back to Norway to pursue her dream to work within the maritime industry when she was only 18 years old. Now, Ivonne is a Client Director in Kongsberg Digital, working at the Lysaker office in Oslo. 

Who is Ivonne?  

“I am a positive and energetic person passionate about the maritime industry. As a child, I have always had a fascination for the design of vessels and their purpose. When it was time for me to choose a career path, I decided to use my curiosity about the operation and management of vessels. This led me to the decision to take a bachelor's degree in Shipping Management. Therefore, when I turned eighteen, I decided to move from Bulgaria to Norway to pursue my dream. Today, nine years later, at the age of twenty-seven, I am proud to say I was able to build a career in this same industry with a significant focus on customer management, success, and support. 
  
In my free time, you can find me listening to one of my many LPs, watching a documentary, travelling, or enjoying a hike in the mountains.” 

I understand that the picture used in this article has a special story connected to it?  

“The photo used in the article was taken at a very proud moment in my career. It was taken in a café next to the colosseum in Rome after a long discussion with a customer. The reason for the discussion was their request to end their existing contract. After an extensive and collaborative day with them, I had secured another long-term contract and agreed on the path forward as strategic partners. “ 

What caught your interest with KDI?  

“Digitalization is a key focus within the Maritime industry. Every shipowner and operator who wishes to stay competitive has already embarked on their digital journey. Therefore, there are many businesses that are trying to enable this new movement by creating various innovative solutions. However, there are very few of  those who know that customer and Customer Success should be at the foundation of their business methodology.  
 
What caught my interest is that very early on in the hiring process it was very clear to me that KDI had one main objective: Customer Success. They believe that Customer Success is a business methodology that must be followed by every single person in the company. In my opinion, this is one of the main reasons for the success of KDI and is the reason for my excitement to be a part of KDI for the years to come.” 

  
What are your biggest expectations of KDI in the next coming years?  

“KDI has already achieved a tremendous amount of success in the last years through innovative technology, robust process management, and strong positive company culture. My biggest expectation is that KDI manages to continue to stay true to its ability to continuously find talent who enhances the already existing leading position KDI products have claimed in the market.  
 
I strongly believe that people and innovation are at the core of any successful business.”
