An exciting opportunity has arisen as Field Service Engineer – Dynamic Positioning Software, reporting to Group Manager of Dynamic Positioning and Navigation. In this role, you will work on DP releases in both the delivery and after sales phases. This position will provide technical support both in the office and onboard to customers and colleagues.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Produce technical assistance in the field related to on-call assignments and combined hardware and software related issues
  • Attend sea trials during commissioning to complete the delivery
  • Attend vessels to conduct service work
  • Responsible for reporting errors or defects on equipment delivered from KM and suggesting improvements using our KM Problems & Improvements database
  • Provide technical assistance to sales, after sales and our customers
  • Assist service coordination group with service setup and execution
  • Produce and review Statistical Capability plots
  • Responsible for updating service desk, Visual Source Safe, and documentation after Customer Acceptance Test and service regulated by Kongsberg’s quality controlled procedures.
  • Participate in 24-hour duty phone when needed, including availability for vessel off hire situations
  • Report problems and suggest improvements using KM tools as quality control responsible
  • Other tasks designated from department manager
  • Travel on short notice inside and outside of the Gulf of Mexico service region

Qualifications and Experience:

Functional / Technical – Knowledge and abilities to perform work with quality results

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, etc.) or 2+ years of technical field experience
  • Ability to handle simultaneous activities and work in a hectic environment on and off vessels
  • Willingness to work on KM specific proprietary software, processes, and routines
  • Good communication skills and fluent in English
  • Dedication and desire to build a long career within the technical field
  • Self-starter with an ability to multi-task
