subNOVA is a student project where the students fill all roles; project manager, system architect, SW developers, and test & integration. The subNOVA team will develop a new and innovative mini-CMS (Combat Management System) that collects, integrates and presents different sensor data (radar, sonar, periscope, navigation) in a new and creative way.

Some of the technology used during the project is:
• PROTEUS to simulate the different sensors
• InterCOM DDS to share real time data across the network
• InterMAPhics for 2D- and 3D-view of maps, and presenting data in 3D
• Qt-Quick/C++ (GUI)

Through the summer 2015 subNOVA have accomplished to prepare new and innovative ideas, concepts and solutions for the Next Generation Submarines (NGS) for Norway. New technology (e.g. Oculus Rift, Leap Motion, Hololence, Eyetracker, Voice Recognition) that will improve functionality of the subNOVA system, will be tested and evaluated. For the next 3-4 years students will implement new ideas and technology to continously improve the subNOVA functionality
