Kongsberg Drilling Management Solutions (KDMS) is nominated to World Oil Awards in Houston

In addition, it is positive for the Norwegian technology that we have shown us up”, says Jon Gjerde, Vice President Software, Kongsberg Drilling Management Solutions to the Norwegian website oilinfo.no.

The company has been nominated for World Oil Awards 2011 for its software RigManager in the category "Best Data Management and Application Solution Award", writes the website. KDM is competing against Baker Hughes Incorported (nominated for two products), Halliburtion and WellEz Information Management.

“This is a tool that is used in around 30 operations in the North Sea. In short, the software helps the software drilling company to operate an offshore rig, and to solve all tasks in the best possible way. There may be a matter of daily tasks, but also in touch with the land”, continues Gjerde.

New product
Gjerde says further to the website that he thinks the key to the success, is that Kongsberg Drilling Management has created a product that is new to the market.

“The oil industry is a conservative industry, and when there is a new product that gives the wind in the sails are probably the jury noticed it”, says Gjerde.
